”I have looked around at options for taking Reiki 1st degree for about a year, getting a little confused by all the different “brands” of Reiki. When I hit upon the Reiki Evolution web site and started to read Taggart’s articles, I was struck by the clarity of his writing and his obvious broad knowledge of Reiki. I knew then that I was going to train with Reiki Evolution.
The combination of a written manual, CD commentary and a live one day attendance suited me down to the ground. The guided meditations are also a boon when practising the energy exercises, no wondering if you’re doing it right, just follow the clear instructions, brilliant!
I chose to train with Martine at Harrogate, the availability of a Sunday course made it so much easier to attend. ”The course compared very favourably with the “Western” Reiki I and II I had already done. I liked the straightforward approach of the manuals, and teaching, and its emphasis on the spiritual development side of Reiki, not just the healing side. The manuals and CDs are a fantastic resource I know I’ll come back to again and again. As a qualified teacher myself, I really appreciated Martine’s professionalism. Martine’s sense of humour really helped too! I could see that she was really getting a handle on individuals’ characters – also a sign of a good teacher! Martine answered – and encouraged us to ask – questions, and was non-judgemental and supportive. The empowerments felt very tangible and the whole day was like being given a special gift.
The manuals are outstanding: clear and intelligently written. They gave me a real feel for trying to find a more intuitive and stripped-down style of Reiki, uncluttered by a lot of the “New Age” paraphernalia that Reiki seems to have accrued. Although a practising Pagan, I really appreciated the crystal- and Angel-free approach! I’ve also started reading the books of Thich Nhat Hanh, which is expanding my horizons and giving me a sound context for Reiki.
Finally, I want to thank you for the other practices in the manuals, Hatsurei ho and the Monday Reiju empowerments. I feel they are such a gift, and if I’d done Reiki elsewhere I would never have known what I was missing. Reiki Evolution have also helped me think more critically about Reiki, and given me the confidence to work instinctively, knowing there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to do things. Also the confidence to question everything I read, and also to use symbols confidently, and simply.

”Manual/CDs/DVD – very comprehensive. As with most subjects, it must be difficult to know what to leave out. I found the manual a “good road” in parts – “like a mystery unfolding”. And now I’m finding it very supportive in the use of developing my new found skills. Yes, it absolutely covered everything for the course.
Live training choice was made because of what I’d read about Martine and, yes, in the flesh she proved to be an excellent facilitator. She made us feel very comfortable and uninhibited. There was quite a bit of laughter, particularly when we played with the energy “focusing on the spot” and the recipient had to declare where it was felt.
The venue was beautiful – “lightly atmospheric”, very clean, comfortable and secure. I left feeling/knowing that Martine would be happy to support me through this ‘spiritual journey’ – since doing the course I’ve felt that there’s a bubble of joy, growing and growing – I don’t think it will burst, rather that it’ll just envelop me. "I was initially attracted to the Reiki Evolution Master/Teacher course by the wide variety of support materials available on the website. I had experienced the traditional Western Master level course but it was obvious that there was a great deal more for me to learn here. I was not disappointed.
Conversion Course
I received manuals and CDs for Level 1 (Shoden) and Level 2 (Okuden) to bring me up to speed for the Master/Teacher course. They are extremely thorough and well structured. The programme is very carefully planned with some sections marked for support from tracks on the accompanying CD. Photographs add to the sound tracks to make the exercises very easy to follow. I also found it very helpful to be able to compare my own experiences with those noted by previous students of the course. As someone who intends to start teaching Reiki, I am sure these will be invaluable when it comes to discussing experiences with my own students. It was also easy to skim through sections with which I was familiar and to focus more time and attention on the many new and fascinating topics and exercises. Hatsurei Ho, for example, was completely new to me, and was immediately built into to my daily regime. I have found it a very enjoyable exercise and the experience has improved over time. Advice on giving treatments (including details such as insurance, treatment table suppliers, the law, client advice sheets and even suggested music to use when treating) is extremely comprehensive. The manuals and CDs are phenomenal value at £30.
Reiki Master/Teacher Course
The manual and CD are of the same high standard of the previous levels but include even more detail. I feel the right balance of symbols are provided, too many and the student would feel overwhelmed while too few would leave the student feeling that they had missed out. I feel every possible teaching aid is used to help the student become familiar with the Western Attunement and Reiju Empowerments. The DVD was a tremendous aid to learning. Having watched that on several consecutive days I found that it was easier to place the self-test photos in the correct order. Finally, a few days before the live course, I used the missing sentence sheets to revise and combined these with the quiz program which I downloaded from the website.
The idea that this level marks a beginning rather than an end to development is strongly evident with much guidance given for continued self growth. I particularly like the microcosmic orbit and the energy ball self empowerment - both meditations similar to ones I have learnt in Qi Gong.
One of the unexpected and particularly welcome aspects was the extent of the support and guidance offered to prospective teachers. As someone who has spent 34 years in education I am well aware of the amount of effort that has gone into the production of the manuals, CDs, DVD, leaflets, certificates etc. To be able to obtain them to use with my own students is an incredible boost. Similarly, I was delighted to obtain advice on everything from suggested course schedules to where to obtain business cards or books about starting up your own business.
The live two day course was everything I hoped it would be and more. It was handy to have the schedule in advance of the meeting so that I knew what aspects were to be covered at what times. Detailed directions made the venue easy to find and I was able to arrive in good time. Martine is a wonderfully warm, inspirational and helpful teacher. It was refreshing to be told early on to question openly anything I felt unsure about or had a different view on. She took us through each area carefully and thoroughly so that we developed confidence and understanding of the exercises and empowerments. It is also very re-assuring to know that I have on-going support both from Martine and yourself.
I took time and care to sift through the many Reiki courses available before settling on Reiki Evolution and I am glad that I did. I am delighted with every aspect of the course and could never have imagined such depth of material, guidance and support.

”The course literature guides us gently from 2nd Degree to another level of working, with Kotodama, Hara Defining and more intuitively with Reiji ho, intent and with Chakras. The literature is very professional, easy to follow and with great illustrations.
The CD, as always, is an excellent guide and very well put together. Taggart’s soft, hypnotic voice is clear and concise, leaving one very aware of what to do with confidence. Taggart’s hard work, efforts and energy put into the course literature and CD make learning extremely pleasurable.
I always think the venue of a live training course sets the standard for the duration. Lavender Court is an instant energy venue, at the end of the course you are totally relaxed and consequently more learned.
Martine is an excellent teacher, she not only makes the subject interesting, making you fully aware of all there is to know, at that stage, but she also, in imparting her vast experience, gives of herself totally which in turn brings more input from her students.

"I have to admit that when I first stumbled across your website I was very wary about booking on on-line. The saying “If it looks too good to be true…..” sprang immediately to mind. I don’t mean this in a derogatory way in the slightest, your website is very professional, user friendly and incredibly informative but having just averted what could have been a potentially unpleasant experience with a Reiki Master that seemed more interested in the £ signs rather than their students development, I was rather anxious about putting my trust in someone that I’d never met. Then I read your background and what made me really smile was your phrase “….thinking that I was just being gullible (again!)..” you must be human after all! I say this with a big grin on my face.
We were both highly delighted with the manuals and cds, again very professional, well written and easy to read/listen to. Initially I was disappointed that we couldn’t secure two places at the York venue when we wanted to but I now realise we were meant, without shadow of a doubt, to go to Harrogate to meet Martine and obviously we have you to thank for that.
Martine is a wonderfully warm and compassionate teacher. Her training is relaxed and humorous whilst still being professional and she gets the point across beautifully. Martine is a person who genuinely cares for others and their well-being and this shines through. For us the relaxed atmosphere was perfect and the way Martine relates the points through stories and experiences makes things so much easier to remember. Her aftercare support has been fantastic too.
I have been giving spiritual healing when needed ‘on the quiet’ for nearly 15 years now. I say on the quiet because I didn’t want anyone to know. Organised religion is not for me and I was uncomfortable explaining what ‘spiritual healing’ is. Reiki has given me the confidence to ‘come out of the closet’ so to speak. The strength of my healing has increased ten fold, I love your philosophy of not being bound by ‘you can’t do this, if it’s not done this way it’s not right etc.’ Working with intuition is simply brilliant, a real joy.
