”I have looked around at options for taking Reiki 1st degree for about a year, getting a little confused by all the different “brands” of Reiki. When I hit upon the Reiki Evolution web site and started to read Taggart’s articles, I was struck by the clarity of his writing and his obvious broad knowledge of Reiki. I knew then that I was going to train with Reiki Evolution.
The combination of a written manual, CD commentary and a live one day attendance suited me down to the ground. The guided meditations are also a boon when practising the energy exercises, no wondering if you’re doing it right, just follow the clear instructions, brilliant!

”The course compared very favourably with the “Western” Reiki I and II I had already done. I liked the straightforward approach of the manuals, and teaching, and its emphasis on the spiritual development side of Reiki, not just the healing side. The manuals and CDs are a fantastic resource I know I’ll come back to again and again. As a qualified teacher myself, I really appreciated Martine’s professionalism. Martine’s sense of humour really helped too! I could see that she was really getting a handle on individuals’ characters – also a sign of a good teacher! The manuals are outstanding: clear and intelligently written. They gave me a real feel for trying to find a more intuitive and stripped-down style of Reiki, uncluttered by a lot of the “New Age” paraphernalia that Reiki seems to have accrued. Although a practising Pagan, I really appreciated the crystal- and Angel-free approach! I’ve also started reading the books of Thich Nhat Hanh, which is expanding my horizons and giving me a sound context for Reiki.
Finally, I want to thank you for the other practices in the manuals, Hatsurei ho and the Monday Reiju empowerments. I feel they are such a gift, and if I’d done Reiki elsewhere I would never have known what I was missing. Reiki Evolution have also helped me think more critically about Reiki, and given me the confidence to work instinctively, knowing there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to do things. Also the confidence to question everything I read, and also to use symbols confidently, and simply.

”Manual/CDs/DVD – very comprehensive. As with most subjects, it must be difficult to know what to leave out. I found the manual a “good road” in parts – “like a mystery unfolding”. And now I’m finding it very supportive in the use of developing my new found skills. Yes, it absolutely covered everything for the course.
Live training choice was made because of what I’d read about Martine and, yes, in the flesh she proved to be an excellent facilitator. She made us feel very comfortable and uninhibited. There was quite a bit of laughter, particularly when we played with the energy “focusing on the spot” and the recipient had to declare where it was felt.
The venue was beautiful – “lightly atmospheric”, very clean, comfortable and secure. "I was initially attracted to the Reiki Evolution Master/Teacher course by the wide variety of support materials available on the website. I had experienced the traditional Western Master level course but it was obvious that there was a great deal more for me to learn here. I was not disappointed.
Conversion Course
I received manuals and CDs for Level 1 (Shoden) and Level 2 (Okuden) to bring me up to speed for the Master/Teacher course. They are extremely thorough and well structured. The programme is very carefully planned with some sections marked for support from tracks on the accompanying CD. Photographs add to the sound tracks to make the exercises very easy to follow. I also found it very helpful to be able to compare my own experiences with those noted by previous students of the course. As someone who intends to start teaching Reiki, I am sure these will be invaluable when it comes to discussing experiences with my own students. It was also easy to skim through sections with which I was familiar and to focus more time and attention on the many new and fascinating topics and exercises. Hatsurei Ho, for example, was completely new to me, and was immediately built into to my daily regime. I have found it a very enjoyable exercise and the experience has improved over time. Advice on giving treatments (including details such as insurance, treatment table suppliers, the law, client advice sheets and even suggested music to use when treating) is extremely comprehensive. The manuals and CDs are phenomenal value at £30.
Reiki Master/Teacher Course
The manual and CD are of the same high standard of the previous levels but include even more detail. I feel the right balance of symbols are provided, too many and the student would feel overwhelmed while too few would leave the student feeling that they had missed out. I feel every possible teaching aid is used to help the student become familiar with the Western Attunement and Reiju Empowerments. The DVD was a tremendous aid to learning. Having watched that on several consecutive days I found that it was easier to place the self-test photos in the correct order. Finally, a few days before the live course, I used the missing sentence sheets to revise and combined these with the quiz program which I downloaded from the website.
The idea that this level marks a beginning rather than an end to development is strongly evident with much guidance given for continued self growth. I particularly like the microcosmic orbit and the energy ball self empowerment - both meditations similar to ones I have learnt in Qi Gong.
One of the unexpected and particularly welcome aspects was the extent of the support and guidance offered to prospective teachers. As someone who has spent 34 years in education I am well aware of the amount of effort that has gone into the production of the manuals, CDs, DVD, leaflets, certificates etc. To be able to obtain them to use with my own students is an incredible boost. Similarly, I was delighted to obtain advice on everything from suggested course schedules to where to obtain business cards or books about starting up your own business.
The live two day course was everything I hoped it would be and more. It was handy to have the schedule in advance of the meeting so that I knew what aspects were to be covered at what times. Detailed directions made the venue easy to find and I was able to arrive in good time. Martine is a wonderfully warm, inspirational and helpful teacher. It was refreshing to be told early on to question openly anything I felt unsure about or had a different view on. She took us through each area carefully and thoroughly so that we developed confidence and understanding of the exercises and empowerments. It is also very re-assuring to know that I have on-going support both from Martine and yourself.
I took time and care to sift through the many Reiki courses available before settling on Reiki Evolution and I am glad that I did. I am delighted with every aspect of the course and could never have imagined such depth of material, guidance and support.

”The course literature guides us gently from 2nd Degree to another level of working, with Kotodama, Hara Defining and more intuitively with Reiji ho, intent and with Chakras. The literature is very professional, easy to follow and with great illustrations.
The CD, as always, is an excellent guide and very well put together. Taggart’s soft, hypnotic voice is clear and concise, leaving one very aware of what to do with confidence. Taggart’s hard work, efforts and energy put into the course literature and CD make learning extremely pleasurable.
I always think the venue of a live training course sets the standard for the duration. Lavender Court is an instant energy venue, at the end of the course you are totally relaxed and consequently more learned.

“Words cannot actually describe how fantastic the course was. Martine was great. I have never before attended a course where I felt very comfortable in a room of strangers and I did not feel uneasy about having my own Reiki experience and sharing it with the rest of the group. The day flowed well and gradually built upon our energy field and learning how to use it successfully.
I had deliberately not had a full Reiki treatment myself before the course as I wanted it to be a new experience for me to gradually build upon on a personal level. After reading the manual and info on the web site, I went into it with an open mind in the hopes that I felt something, but also being prepared to not experience anything. I think this helped with my experience as I had quite a strong connection to the energy from the first empowerment.
After doing the practical session I realised that I have never fully relaxed before. Reiki has given me more control over my life in that I now feel more positive and energised in my daily tasks. I am now more determined to get jobs done that I would previously have left for tomorrow and I even made the decision to stop watching Eastenders after 15 years (as this is just a waste of a good half hour).
I have found that the best time to do my daily meditation sequence and self-treatment is sitting up in bed at night. I am then relaxed and go straight to sleep afterwards. I am already looking forward to the second course level, although I want to work on my meditations and treating others for a while before going on to the next level.
I cannot recommend any changes to the course as I found it everything I wanted it to be and more. I would not hesitate to recommend Reiki Evolution and Martine to anyone who wants to do a course.

"I have to admit that when I first stumbled across your website I was very wary about booking on on-line. The saying “If it looks too good to be true…..” sprang immediately to mind. I don’t mean this in a derogatory way in the slightest, your website is very professional, user friendly and incredibly informative but having just averted what could have been a potentially unpleasant experience with a Reiki Master that seemed more interested in the £ signs rather than their students development, I was rather anxious about putting my trust in someone that I’d never met. We were both highly delighted with the manuals and cds, again very professional, well written and easy to read/listen to. Initially I was disappointed that we couldn’t secure two places at the York venue when we wanted to but I now realise we were meant, without shadow of a doubt, to go to Harrogate to meet Martine and obviously we have you to thank for that.
Martine is a wonderfully warm and compassionate teacher. Her training is relaxed and humorous whilst still being professional and she gets the point across beautifully. Martine is a person who genuinely cares for others and their well-being and this shines through. For us the relaxed atmosphere was perfect and the way Martine relates the points through stories and experiences makes things so much easier to remember. Her aftercare support has been fantastic too.
I have been giving spiritual healing when needed ‘on the quiet’ for nearly 15 years now. I say on the quiet because I didn’t want anyone to know. Organised religion is not for me and I was uncomfortable explaining what ‘spiritual healing’ is. Reiki has given me the confidence to ‘come out of the closet’ so to speak. I think the way that way the course is put together is very good, its definatley useful to do the back ground reading and listening before attending the day, so that you are able to just concentrate on the practical side of it on the day, without having to make notes, and so forth, And feel in a rush to take it all in.

“What did I think of the course content? Since I have no previous experience or knowledge of Reiki this is a difficult one about which to be entirely objective. However, the two things that attracted me to join Reiki-Evolution rather than any of the many other "Reikis" was your return to the purity and simplicity of the original teachings and the lack of any hint of ego on your site. On that basis the content was much as I expected it to be.
Did the course meet my expectations? Yes. I expected it to have a very professional and comprehensive approach and it did.
What did I think of the course materials? I spent the last 25 years of my working life as Training and Development Manager in a large engineering concern and must have seen just about every training approach there is to see so, what did I think about yours? Impressive; as befits a manual going to a new and, as yet uninformed learner, it is written in a clear, straightforward and easy to understand manner (the Plain English Society would be proud of you!).
The presentation of the manual allows the reader to maximise their own learning style and set their own pattern of density of learning without any need to compromise and the detailed contents index allows very easy and frequent "reminder dipping".
What are my comments about the live training, and my teacher? I did the live course and so have experienced both the teacher and the home study training. The combination worked very well indeed. The home study provided a firm foundation for the live day and made the time on that day completely productive.
My tutor was Martine Moorby and she was exactly what I expected after reading her background. She has a gentle, easy going approach that settles a group very quickly and encourages a high level of interactivity. With a first level group it's easy to let the subject matter drift out of their comfort zone but Martine avoided any chance of that by keeping all explanations clear and simple. As well as being very informative the day was also a hugely enjoyable experience.How do I think the course could be improved? I think it unlikely that you could improve the course significantly in any way.
Venue and/or environment can make or break an otherwise good course. In this case the room was just the right size for the group and was light, calm and comfortable and very conducive to easy learning.
As soon as I have finished this e-mail and sent it I shall be booking for Part 2 - doesn't that say it all!

“I would just like to start by saying that I am so glad I found your website and didn’t book my Reiki course through one of the other websites I looked at. I really can’t find anything negative to comment on I thought the content of the course was in depth and easy to understand and it exceeded my expectations of what I thought it would be. Its a very good idea to send the manual and CDs prior to the live course as it gives an idea of what we can expect on the day and also some background knowledge on the subject.
I practice the daily energy exercises with the CD and the more I practice the more energy I can feel. My partner has a sinus problem which means he snores really badly and I used to be hours getting to sleep but since I have been practising Reiki on him and also the daily energy exercises he hardly snores at all and I have been sleeping really well!!
Martine was brilliant on the live course. She was very natural and made you feel at ease. I am really looking forward to the 2nd degree course and will definitely be booking the 3rd degree with you too!”

"What did I think of the course content? - Relevant and informative based broadly on the course book material with opportunities to expand on the information or take appropriate little detours along the way. This made it learning that didn't feel like an arduous learning experience or repetitive. "I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the course, I was abit apprehensive when I arrived however Martine instantly put me and the two other students at ease. I am SO glad that we worked through the book before the course date as agree it would have been heavy going! I worried that I had not studied enough however when Martine worked her way throught the stages it seemed to click into place and I felt quite comfortable by the end of the day at being able to practice giving a treatment to one of the other students. It was really nice to have Martine explain our findings and reassure us that there are occasions when there is nothing however it still is working and that to use intuition and go with the flow as it were when working with a client :o)
As you know I have already enrolled in the second degree course as I would like to be able to work on other people and to progress through the Reiki methodology more - my primary aim in the short term is to self heal and then I will feel happier knowing that if I am ok then whoever I treat will also benefit.
Course materials: When I opened the book I was initially put off as it did look heavy going, so I took my time and read an hour or so a day, looking at it now, it isn't at all! - the practical exercises were good and the pictures were self explanatory and very easy to follow imo ! I did like how you had put feedback from other students - it was nice to know about some of their experiences and what their findings were - even from some who had no reaction - important to show that as we all, I guess want obvious results when in reality it may not be the case for some students but it is for their clients.
CD - as you know one was faulty however you immediately rectified that :o) ... one thing is your voice is SO hypnotic! I would lay in bed initially to listen to them and would fall asleep! .. happened a few times!
The course very much met my expexctations and more, Martine made it very easy going and I am looking forward to my next course, which as it happens is on my birthday!"

”As requested here are my comments on my Master/Teacher course with Martine.
Course content - Certainly plenty of it. A lot to learn but well presented both in the pre-course material and on the live two days making it reasonably easy to "link and follow".
As you know from my comments on the previous courses I spent over 20 years in industrial training management and so I admit I do take a bit of pleasing. However, once again the content, presentation, depth and phasing were just about spot on. I can offer no suggestions for significantly improving the course right through from 1st degree to Master.
Thank you for introducing me to the Usui Reiki system and for the changes it has brought into my life.
Now I have achieved Master level the real journey begins and I look forward to it with great anticipation."
