"Thank you Marilyn, I really enjoyed the Reiki 1 day. It was a bit weird as I was ‘buzzing’ all night from the experience and instead of feeling tired I kind of feel like I want to do a million things and clear out cupboards, etc. I had some really vivid dreams about my past. "The most enjoyable experience was receiving the empowerments. I just loved the energy and the peacefulness I felt while being given them. Giving and receiving treatments from fellow students has been a very relaxing and interesting experience. I was amazed by the ‘immediate effects’ of Reiki.
All in all, the course was a very pleasant experience. It was very nice to spend time with like minded people in a relaxing environment. I also welcomed the fact that there were only three of us (students) so all of us had plenty of attention from Marilyn and everything was explained thoroughly.
I did Reiki Level 1 about 10-15 years ago but have never really used it and I felt I’d ‘lost it’. This time it was a very different experience. After the empowerments I felt more relaxed and positive and I’ve been feeling the same since the course. I’m not planning to treat others, apart from family members and friends, but Reiki is still a very useful tool for me as I regularly treat myself and feel energised. It was really helpful having the manual and CD before the course – there wasn’t loads of new information to take in on the day, therefore I was able to concentrate on what was going on during the course and enjoy it. "When I first decided that I would like to study Reiki I was bewildered by the number of websites and books that were available on the subject. Reiki Evolution’s website attracted me because of its clear and simple style, the combination of home study and live course, and the absence of confusing and distracting jargon.
On receiving the home study pack I was extremely impressed. Again, everything is clearly laid out and there is a straightforward recommendation for getting the best from the materials. I found the manual fascinating, particularly the sections on the history and origins of Reiki and how they are often misunderstood. The illustrations make the practical work easy to follow and including the CD commentary makes for a welcome break from the printed word and also means that it is easy to fit study into everyday life.
My Reiki 1 live course was similarly enjoyable. Marilyn is a gentle and patient teacher who is very willing to share her own experiences in response to questions, which really brings the subject to life. Being able to study in a small group meant plenty of opportunity for hands-on practice and I found the guided treatment sessions to be great for my confidence. I also loved the meditation tracks on the CD and I experienced a deep and profound sense of relaxation during the self healing which I would almost describe as an out of body experience.
What surprised me the most was the amount of energy I could feel after the three empowerments. Each student experienced something different but for me it literally felt as if a switch had been flicked allowing my hands to feel something completely new and very exciting. I sense energy as a gentle cool breeze on my palms, which was a total surprise to me as when receiving treatments in the past I experienced strong heat. During the scanning sessions I could clearly feel variations in the strength of this breeze and after giving my first treatment I was delighted that a repeat scan showed a much more even distribution of energy along the length of my fellow student’s body.
The day after the course I completed Hatsurei ho and another self-treatment meditation. Again, both sessions left me feeling calm and yet buzzing at the same time. I also tuned into your distant empowerment. As this was something we hadn’t been able to practice on the course I was unsure how it would work but I felt a very distinct increase in the energy around me (and around my hands in particular) and this lasted for a few minutes. I now intend to make Reiki a part of my everyday life and I can’t wait to treat family and friends and to register for Reiki 2.

"As you know, I took my Reiki 2 course last Sunday at the London Victoria venue, with Marilyn Harvey. I had a very good experience.
The venue was very conveniently located a couple of minutes' away from Victoria station; it was comfortable, warm (despite Marilyn worrying that it wouldn't be warm enough), clean and spacious.
The course materials are excellent - I'd been preparing for the last couple of months and it was invaluable to be able to do the background reading first. The same applies to the audio material. It was also immensely helpful to be able to learn the symbols before the day, and the way they were laid out was very clear.
Marilyn is a wonderful teacher, and I was particularly impressed by her ability to moderate the group and prevent digressions, so that no time was wasted and so that the material could be covered.
I really really enjoyed the course (although it was REALLY hard work!) and Marilyn is a great teacher, and we had a very good group.
I feel that there is a lot of work I have to do now though...! This is The Empire Strikes Back level and I don't think I'll be a Jedi overnight!"

"The content of the course was right and from the beginning I knew I was in good hands, so being with the right teacher is an essential element when doing a Reiki course. The practical part was very useful, as well as interacting with other participants and sharing experiences.

"I thought the course was very well balanced. I found the materials to be very thorough and easy to digest. I have seen very few Reiki courses that give so many different learning resources i.e. comprehensive manuals, audio cd’s and dvd’s and having all this prior to the course start dates really helps prepare for the training days.
I was very happy with the presentation of the course. From the beginning I have felt a strong connection to Marilyn and am so glad to have been guided by her tuition and wisdom.
The energies of the Attunements and the Empowerments felt totally different to me. I felt a lot more going on with the Empowerments, feeling a very strong connection to the energy, as if this was the one for me! I found when giving a Western Attunement that I was very involved, but in a different way to how I felt when giving an Empowerment. The empowerments are beautifully simple and feel very Japanese. I was totally immersed in the Connection ritual. The best way to describe my own feeling about giving an Empowerment is to describe it as a graceful and gentle dance.
The kotodama feel very beautifully ancient and wonderfully powerful and, again, I feel very much at one with them.
When Reiki first found me, I felt a very strong connection to the energy and realised from the very beginning that it was something I was meant to do. Marilyn teaches in a way that is very clear and concise. There was a good balance of giving information and doing practical exercises.
I liked the fact that the whole group took turns at Reiji Ho and it was helpful to find we all picked up on each others ‘problem’ areas! When we did the long practice session, I liked the format given for working on the shoulders, i.e. sending Reiki, then channelling the energy of CKR followed by SHK, then moving on to treat the head, followed by treating the rest of the body intuitively and ending at the feet. As a beginner, I think it’s very helpful to have a format to start with rather than trying to do whole treatment intuitively. I will probably stick with this as I like the calming effect of spending time on the shoulders first. It works well when giving and receiving a treatment.
I did a short treatment on a friend the day after the course and it went very well. I’m feeling much more confident about my ability to treat others and I’m looking forward to developing and working with the energy."

“I really enjoyed learning and practising Reiki on Sunday. The course had the right balance of theory, historical background and practice. Everyone seemed to be relaxed and friendly. I really appreciated the fact that everyone was from a different background and it was a delight to see how well we worked together, thanks to Marilyn’s calm and friendly approach!
Hatsurei ho and Reiki treatments were explained clearly and Marilyn’s guidance during the full Reiki treatment was extremely helpful. Somehow she managed to guide us through these without really interrupting us – that was magic! Also, what worked really well was that, after each practice, we discussed what we felt and it was interesting to see how people’s experiences varied.
Finally, I would like to mention that after the course I felt rejuvenated. I was expecting to be tired after a long day but I felt so peaceful and cheerful when I got home. Since that Sunday my life has changed significantly. I felt the difference the next morning at work and I found myself concentrating so quickly on what I was doing. Generally I feel happier, as though my life has become more meaningful.
I practise Hatsurei Ho and the self treatment meditation every day and I have also practised Reiki on a friend once, who fell asleep during the first two minutes after I placed my hands on his shoulders! There are moments when I am still not sure about what I feel but I am sure that with practise, Reiki will become second nature. I’m already looking forward to taking Reiki 2 in December!“

"It was a brilliant day on Sunday and I found it has had a profound effect upon me.
I found the course materials very interesting and easy to assimilate. However, the live training day really pulled together the written and spoken pre-course material and helped me to understand it all in a way that would have been difficult with the theory alone.

"I thought the course content was very informative and educational and gave a good solid background to Reiki. I read the course manual and listened to the audio files daily, still do! I found (still do) the history of Reiki & the discovery of Usui Sensei very fascinating. This course is definitely value for money and you get the real Reiki history not the twisted form. I really enjoyed the chanting and have noticed that the energies feel much stronger and deeper using the Kotodama than the symbols. The empowerments also felt much stronger than the attunement and I prefer their simplicity.
