My name is Julia Papworth and I’m the Reiki Evolution Reiki Master/Teacher responsible for running courses in Wiltshire. I have being doing Reiki for 11 years and run my own Reiki courses, teaching for Reiki Evolution from September 2010.
I host Reiki Share on the first Wednesday of the month plus Reiki I & II courses ever three months and Reiki Master/Teacher courses once every three months. These courses are run from my Malmesbury Chiropractic & Complementary Health Clinic in Malmesbury, Wiltshire. This is about 20 minutes West of Swindon, 1 hour North of Bath, and 30 minutes from Tetbury, Cirencester and junction 17 of the M4 motorway.
Teaching with Reiki Evolution
I accepted Taggart’s offer of running his courses and on the recommendation of Jay Mcleod who previously ran Reiki Evolution Courses in Wiltshire. I accepted Taggart’s offer because I believe that they offer the most comprehensive and professional studies on Reiki. The course manuals offer a fantastic history of Reiki, inclusion of all the different ways Reiki has come into being throughout the world and lots of examples of peoples experiences. The CD’s and DVD’s, help to hear and see the teaching’s and concentrate one’s focus on learning, enabling all people to access the content at all levels.
The way Reiki Evolution approaches teaching Reiki is as close to the original approach Mikao Usui took as it is possible to get to at this moment in time. It is clutter free, supportive, non-judgmental, simple and pure, and as a result it is very powerful. It is the intuitive connection to energy and selfhealing work that empowers so many who take these courses.
The back-up that Reiki Evolution offers is also second to none. As a student you have access to your teacher and to Taggart for as long as you need to. This is very important as it can be quite daunting using Reiki - even experienced Reiki practitioners need help some times. The website is fully interactive and allows like-minded people to connect, share experiences and live Reiki at many levels.
We only have a maximum of 4 people on each Reiki I, II and 3 on each Master course, this way we ensure that everyone can can access the learning and integrate the teaching fully. Each student has the space to ask as many questions as they like and discuss aspects, making sure everyone is fully comfortable with all aspects.
My Reiki courses
I love running courses. I have a simple, no-nonsense approach to Reiki and I like the training days to be fun & informative and at the same time calm & supportive. The first thing I say to everyone on my courses is that ‘there are no tests, you can’t get it wrong, today is just about practicing what you have read about’. I keep it simple and practical. I do not include spirit guides, crystals or any other ‘extras’ as they are not a part of my own personal Reiki practice. I keep it simple and pure, but acknowledge that there are many things out there that I do not understand and have not had experience of.
It is a most wonderful thing to see people’s faces when they first feel Reiki, and to hear how they have changed when they come back to do more courses. At the same time I learn so much myself on each course. I am so glad that I have found this path.
After the day is over it doesn’t stop there, though; I don't want any of my students to feel isolated or confused, so they can call or email me anytime if they have any concerns or questions. I send out a Reiju Empowerment, on a weekly basis, to each of my students and they also get the chance to join the Reiki Evolution discussion group.
My Reiki shares
I host Reiki Shares on the first Wednesday of each month. This is where anyone who has studied Reiki (whether I have taught them or not) can come along to Malmesbury Chiropractic & Complementary Health Clinic, on an evening, and take part in Reiki activities.
The Reiki share is designed to allow people to share Reiki experience through discussion, refresh mediations and re-focus. We then spend time giving Reiki to each other and receiving Empowerments. Sometimes people can feel a little lonely in their Reiki practice and these free Reiki Shares act as a very informal, and fun, evening to help them feel not so isolated. It is also a meeting of like minds and a way to learn new ideas and teachings.
People will be emailed each month as a reminder of the share and what is covered that month.
My background
What led me to Reiki?
I had always been very spiritual, drawn to Buddhism, Taoism and Eastern traditions since I was a teenage. I knew there was an energy to the planet, could feel it and was keen to lean more. As a book-lover I read my way through anything which reflected back at me this concept, buying my first Reiki book in 1994.
I knew I wanted to find a teacher who reflected my thinking, finding one I took my Reiki I, although in the ‘western format’ I thoroughly enjoyed the day and have used the meditations and self-healing every since. My Reiki II was a disappointment and for a short time I became a little skeptical about my development, on reflection I realized not everyone is a good teacher. When I found Jay McLeod and Reiki Evolution I finally found the connection I was looking for. This way of teaching is far more organic that the ‘western way’, yet is inclusive of the ways of the symbol system. Reiki Evolution is ‘inclusion’ of all thoughts and teachings, which is a positive reflection of my work in NLP and coaching- ‘respecting others model of the world’.
How Reiki helped me
The effects of Reiki on me have been amazing. I am centered, happy, reflective and non-judgmental. It has driven me to study other therapies and I am now a qualified Trainer of Neuro-Linguistic programming, and Advanced Performance Coach and a Trainer member of the ANLP. I am Co- Founder of Coaching for Excellence which delivers training and teaching in Transformational change work, Personal development Coaching and Life coaching.
Reiki has always kept me centered in my life helping me fulfill many dreams and ideas. I love sharing my knowledge and seeing others grow and develop, most of all teaching is my passion; I was a Performing Arts, Dance and PE teacher for 20 years, throughout the world, living in Asian and Middle-Eastern cultures, travelling extensively and learning as much as possible.
I can recommend Reiki to everyone. I have not only seen the benefit to me but to many people I have treated and to people around me.
I do hope you decide to take the ‘leap of faith’ and try a Reiki course.
Happy life
Julia
