Hello my name is Dianne and I run Reiki Evolution courses from my home in rural south west Cornwall. Home is in the village of Reawla which is four miles from Hayle proper, 10 miles from Marazion/St Michael’s Mount and seven miles from Helston; we are close to the Penwith and Lizard peninsulas both of which offer stunning coastal scenery as well as ancient sacred and World Heritage sites. Russell (my husband) and I moved here from West Sussex in 2007. From selling our old home and moving into Tava Pren, Cornish we are told for “Touch Wood”, took eight weeks. Tava Pren is a modern house with reversed living accommodation so we can take advantage of the view across the Hayle Estuary to Carbis Bay and St Ives.
I started teaching Reiki in 2006 to a number of fellow Holistic Therapies students at college using Reiki Evolution materials. Even before teaching Reiki I was impressed by the manuals and CDs that came with the courses offered by Reiki Evolution.
I am running Reiki First Degree workshops every month with Second Degree running one every three months.
Reiki Shares
Reiki shares are a good forum for support and on-going development. I am running shares on a monthly basis and they are open to Reiki people of all lineages. The shares are run from my home so space is limited. Please let me know if you are attending.
Teaching Reiki
I really enjoy teaching Reiki and I learn just as much from my students as they do from me. Giving empowerments is a joy and privilege. Seeing the look of wonder on a student’s face after they receive their empowerments when a “ting” moment of connection occurs is very humbling. I love passing on to others the simplicity and elegance of the method Mikao Usui developed that gives us the ability to heal within and reach our highest potential. Through Reiki and almost daily energy work I have reconnected with my inner wisdom and found my true path in life.
My teaching style is relaxed and informal; I believe I’m approachable and friendly with an engineer’s sense of humour. The room where I teach is always full of light and love that is amplified when there is a group of people receiving empowerments or treatments. I like to teach my students to work intuitively if they feel confident about it but if that does not sit well then they will be shown how to work in a way suitable for them. By limiting class sizes to four every student has individual attention when needed. First and foremost I am passionate about Reiki but as a holistic therapist have interests in other vibrational energy forms such as crystals, angels and flower essences; however, Reiki Evolution courses are free from this clutter.
Reiki Evolution Courses
The Reiki Evolution training materials are a wonderful knowledge base. There’s no need to bring pads and pencils to a workshop because almost everything a student needs is provided in either the manuals or CDs. Taggart has a wonderful relaxing voice to listen to and his style of writing is easy to follow. This means that you can relax and enjoy the workshop without being distracted by having to write notes. The course materials can be used afterwards as a refresher or even to answer questions that may not arise on the day.
The after care and support doesn’t stop when you leave at the end of a workshop. You will be invited to join the Reiki Evolution internet discussion groups. Through various sub groups you will be able to ask questions, post distance healing requests, share your Reiki experiences plus keep up to date with other Reiki Evolution students throughout the world. Yes, through Reiki Evolution you are connected to a truly global family. You can talk to me as well either by telephone or through email or visiting if you are nearby.
My background and journey with Reiki
I started my working life as a trainee soft furnisher in late 1969. This lasted all of three months when in 1970 the glamour of the aviation industry beckoned and I went to work as a junior clerk typist for a company making fuel gauging equipment. I had a number of clerical jobs in the years following but in the early 1980’s when PCs first arrived in the workplace, I used databases; entering data and later programming. In 1987 I started teaching Word processing and Database techniques on the courses the company ran for military personnel about to leave their units. By then I found something I really enjoyed and was comfortable with.
During the mid 1990’s I was questioning who I was, what was I doing and generally felt confused about life; a good friend who happened to be a Spiritualist said that one day I would be doing what he did with healing. I had just started an IT accreditation that the same friend had mentioned some months beforehand that I would do but the “healing thing” was spirited to the depths of my mind. I was also having vivid revealing dreams about people and situations but the “spiritualist” path just didn’t feel right for me. Not too many months later in 1996 two acquaintances mentioned that they had attended a Reiki workshop. For one person Reiki made quite an impact and gave him the strength to make significant changes to his life and move to Australia. I bought a book “Your Healing Power” by Jack Angelo for interest, read the first three chapters and felt comfortable with the ideas. Another friend had just qualified in reflexology and through her patience and love I began to think about complementary therapies, particularly, aromatherapy and herbal remedies but not Reiki at the time!
Reiki found me five years later in September 2001. Earlier that year, I had left a very stressful PC support job at one of the south’s theme parks and rejoined my husband’s company. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. The stress levels increased due to financial and family pressures. I had reached the point where I felt I would explode with frustration at – myself, my husband and meddling in-laws! I needed to do something to reduce the stress levels so carried out some internet research found a Reiki Master and signed up for Reiki 1st Degree. I remember how I felt having my first attunement – I did Reiki 1 and 2 with another Teacher to start with – the colours, being lightheaded (without alcohol) and the love I felt for my husband, who, bless him, has no objection to me following the Reiki path. I also remember how relaxed and spaced out I was on the train home and how, Twinkle, one of our cats kept her distance for a while! Until the Reiki 1st Degree course, I hadn’t even had a Reiki treatment but had experienced spiritual healing and so noticed a difference.
By early 2002 I needed some distance healing and was absolutely amazed at how effective this proved; within days I signed up for Reiki 2nd Degree so I could do some distance healing too. Later that year a fellow Reiki 2 student, emailed me Taggart’s Ezine; this proved to be the catalyst for my Reiki Mastership training with Reiki Evolution. In December 2002 my father died in America on his return from holiday. The distance healing I carried out for him while on board the QE2 proved to be one of the most profound experiences ever. It felt as if I were sitting on his bed in Hospital and when about to “disconnect” saw an outline and said “Oh! Mum’s waiting for you”. He died the next day – Mum died in 1985! In January 2003 I re-did Reiki 1 and 2 the Reiki Evolution way prior to my Reiki Mastership training at Witham in March 2003. Over the following three years I worked on healing myself and giving Reiki treatments on a paid and barter basis.
In 2005 after a trip to Alderney, I became a full-time student in Holistic Therapies. Towards the middle of the college year, fellow students were asking about learning Reiki and I was asked by our course tutor whether I would teach Reiki. I agreed and during May and July of 2006 taught Reiki to fellow students at college in West Sussex.
Shortly after moving to Cornwall in 2007 I started full time work for a small local company. By February of 2009 I was yearning to be practicing holistic therapies and teaching Reiki. Well, the Universe brought things to a head later that month and as part of my business plan, I asked Taggart if I could teach Reiki Evolution courses now that I live in South West Cornwall. Happily, Taggart agreed, so here I am offering Reiki training with Cornish Pasties and/or Cornish Clotted Cream Teas.
How Reiki has changed me
Since Reiki 1st Degree I have kept a journal of my life with Reiki and reading it again just recently, can see how I have grown spiritually over the years. I find Reiki protective and liberating at the same time. The energy of Reiki has brought me to a new level of understanding of being connected personally and trusting my inner voice. During a meditation, after completing Reiki Mastership in 2003, I received a symbol that looks like a swan which just happens to signify: grace, elegance and loyalty but also represents “oneness” or “connectedness”. It reminds us of our personal oneness (mind, body, spirit) plus our connection to each other and all of creation.
