Hello! I am Alexis James-Crabb and I have been teaching Reiki at two venues in Spain since 2007. I teach Reiki Courses in the Costa Blanca (Benissa in Alicante Province) and in Granada Province (in the village of Bacor Olivar) in Spain.
First Degree Courses are held every month and Second Degree courses on alternative months. I teach Third Degree Master/Teacher Courses combined or Third Degree Master and Fourth Degree Master Teacher as separate Courses (if requested) because this is often asked for here in Spain. I hold Retreats twice a year in Granada and once each year in the Costa Blanca.
In 2011, I was delighted to receive an invitation from Taggart to become an Associate member of his Reiki Evolution team of teachers. During the time that I have been a member of Reiki Evolution my respect and admiration for International Master Taggart King has increased three fold and continues to do so. Taggart is dedicated to providing the very best in pure Reiki Courses with excellent on going support for his students and teachers.
Courses with Reiki Evolution
I have always used the Reiki Evolution resources because they are comprehensive and professional, easy to work with and provide the student with a permanent reference for the future. The multi media resources are excellent. With the audio CD’s Taggart guides and encourages students to grow in confidence and become more aware of their spirituality. A combination of home study and live training days enables the student to learn at their own pace. Time is allowed between courses for students to develop a strong connection to the beautiful, powerful Reiki energy.
Many Reiki Courses do not offer the on- going support that is so valuable in the beginning. After your course in this lineage you will be invited to join the Reiki Evolution online social network. A group of similar minded people pleased to answer questions and discuss experiences with you.
If you choose, Reiki can be a lifetime journey… but this is your choice…how far you travel is up to you, it very much depends on your commitment.
Other Reiki Courses in Spain
There are many Reiki courses available some are genuine structured courses others are full of fables and meaningless clutter. Here in Spain, if you so choose, you can become a Reiki Master in a weekend.
In the UK one of my friends attended a course there, with fifteen other students. If the students bought the set of Crystals for sale and read the instruction leaflet they were also qualified Crystal Therapists and received the certificate to prove it! There was no background information, no history taught, or any mention of the precepts and the concept of mindfulness. Be discerning and take time to do some research before making your choice of lineage and teacher. Carefully, read Taggart’s web site and his interesting articles. He has a unique style of writing, a very special way with words so important in teaching. Enjoy your Reiki!
Alexis's courses
I am fortunate to have two very different teaching Venues each in ideal locations. My Villa, Casa de las Grullas in the Costa Blanca is in a lovely tranquil area hidden away in a woodland setting. Cueva de Tranquilidad nestles in the mountains close to Granada in the beautiful province of Andalucia where the atmosphere is truly spiritual. Every course is special and I aim to make the time spent with me a valuable meaningful experience for each of my students. I can also offer accommodation for my students visiting Spain, maybe for a holiday or just coming for a Reiki course in this magical environment.
I teach a maximum of four students at one time this enables me to give individual attention to each member of the group and establish a good relationship. I have previous experience in teaching teenagers/adults and believe that this experience helps me to create a friendly relaxed atmosphere within the group. Every student brings a unique individuality to the day so each course is different and exciting. When meeting students from other lineages I frequently discover they know nothing about the founder of Reiki. I believe that it is important to have a good basic knowledge of the background and historical facts, together with the core beliefs of Mikao Usui, in the ‘Precepts’ and the concept of ‘Mindfulness’. It is important to understand Usui Sensie the ‘man’ and appreciate his wonderful gift of Reiki.
Having taught Reiki for several years now, I very much encourage an intuitive approach but also understand that others choose to rely on formal hand positions and that is okay! I believe that it's also important to have lots of hands-on experience so my courses allow ample time for practice. A very important aspect of my Reiki training is that it be held in relaxed surroundings, in an open- minded atmosphere of friendship, acceptance and love, amongst the students, while still having fun. It is my aim to answer every question, without judgment, no matter how "silly, funny, or strange" a question might seem.
Reiki is not a miracle nor a religious belief but a wonderful spiritual energy healing technique, available to everyone who decides to take Reiki into their life.
Reiki Shares in Spain
I have monthly evening shares on the Costa Blanca and every second month in Granada. Each evening is different …there is no set plan. I work towards creating a sense of oneness at these ‘get togethers’. We begin with drinks and snacks, sitting together relaxing, asking questions, sharing stories and exchanging experiences. We may move on to ‘Haturei’… we sometimes say the five precepts together.
Distant Healing is sent to those in need and the Distant Healing Book is passed around. I give empowerments and later we share treatments, sitting together afterwards we discuss our feelings and experiences. We end with a group meditation. We may join hands and give thanks to Mikao Usui for his wonderful ‘Gift of Reiki’. The Reiki Share is so inspirational for everyone, especially ‘Me’! It is great to see the difference Reiki has brought into the lives of my students.
Students who live part of the year in the UK are welcome to attend Reiki Evolution shares and events in their area while back in England and Vice Versa.
Making Reiki part of my life
When I first made Reiki part of my life it was some time before I became aware of the impact of this wonderful spiritual energy and the beneficial changes that were taking place within me. Reiki has a way of going to where it is most needed.
My childhood was not good. When I had my child, I was determined he would have a better start in life. I spent the next twelve years working and studying to improve our life style. About this time I began to notice the word “Reiki” in newspapers, books, and magazines but thought little of it, however, Reiki did not give up! I was teaching teenagers at the time and had just qualified as a counsellor. I also had a canine training group at weekends and this is where my interest in complementary therapies began, with the use of homeopathic remedies for animals. Just one year later I founded “Ambience Therapies”, a counselling and complementary therapy practice.
During lunch one day, my son told me about his friend’s back injury and how a Reiki treatment had eased the pain. I had more time for myself, more time to think about my spirituality and the rest of my life. The conversation that we had that day aroused my interest. What was this Reiki? Where did I start to learn? After reading a few books I turned to “Ask Jeeves “. There were hundreds of Reiki sites to choose from. I am a practical person, careful with money and pride myself on having a lot of ‘common sense’; so the search was destined to become a time consuming process. After hours sitting in front of the computer I found “Reiki Evolution”. I instinctively knew it was the one for me. My birth sign is Libra so not a quick decision maker.
I balance the ‘for’s and against’s’ carefully and usually proceed with extreme caution. On this occasion there was no time to waste I felt compelled to ‘throw caution to the wind’ book the course, send the cheque without considering the cost. In fact, I could not wait for the day to arrive to begin my Reiki journey. I was excited! It was a considerable sum of money for me at that time but I have never regretted the ‘investment’. On the contrary taking Reiki into my life has been and still is a wondrous experience that has brought me so much ‘Joy’.
I have had many “sensitive life experiences” always seeming to have been looking in on the happiness of others. Since beginning my Reiki journey life has changed for me. I have found happiness, contentment and “inner peace” of course there are still up’s and down’s…and the inevitable problems of life. But they don’t seem so bad now! Reiki Evolution was definitely the right choice for me.
I have since moved to Spain; and re-opened “Ambience Therapies”.
In my role as a counsellor and complementary therapist I find Reiki extremely useful. Clients for counselling are often stressed and need to relax. If the client is receptive, I teach meditation and sometimes introduce them to “Haturei” so we meditate together.
My “Reiki Journey” continues to open new pathways: teaching, sharing the gift of Reiki with others, writing regular articles for newspapers, magazines, public speaking and organising events…the first Reiki Event was, “Celebrate Reiki Day in Spain”.
What Reiki can do for you?
Well if you have been thinking about Reiki, maybe looking at a few web sites, reading a few books. You will be familiar with the words ‘Reiki has changed my life’.
This can be a difficult concept for people who have had no previous opportunity to think of their spirituality. Perhaps having been too busy with career, maybe struggling to support a family or just the every day problems of life. It is great that you are considering making Reiki part of your life because when you find your own spirituality the world seems to open up to you, there are no limitations …we are only limited by our thoughts.

Animal Reiki
From early childhood animals have always played a very important role in my life and continue to do so. It was a great discovery for me when I realised that animals respond so well to Reiki and that it is so beneficial to their health and well-being. They love it!
I have now developed a certificated course for the students who just require Animal Reiki. Alternatively I have an optional Animal Reiki section that I include in my courses with the agreement of the group.
The Joy of Teaching Reiki
Introducing and connecting others to the original Japanese Reiki system as taught by Mikao Usui is immensely satisfying, rewarding and meant to be! Since beginning to teach Reiki, I have been privileged to meet many very ‘special people’, of various nationalities within this wonderful spiritual world. Our time together has left me with many fond memories and treasured testimonials.
